AMI-SEC System Security Requirements

utility-ami.gifThe Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) requirements are a set of common security requirements for use by utilities in procuring and implementing secure components and systems. A task force consisting of the Department of Energy and 11 leading utilities worked to standardize the security requirements and customize them specifically for utilities and vendors. AMI revolutionizes traditional utility security by extending two-way communications to customer locations. The requirements are based on commonly-accepted practices to help utilities address the security challenges of AMI technologies.
