⁽¹⁾Note: The actual number of cartridges required for testing is determined by the capacities and the requirement that no data from a cartridge will be considered valid unless there are good cartridges in the other positions in the printer. For example if there is a black cartridge that yields 400 pages and a tricolor that yields 550 there will be a minimum of 9 tricolor cartridges and 12 black cartridges required for testing. If they are the same capacity then 12 of each will be required since it is unknown which will fail first. In addition there must be one set of starter cartridges per printer and at least one spare set of cartridges to replace any failures.
