QualityLogic (www.qualitylogic.com), a provider of leading-edge QA and QC test tools and services for the imaging and telecom industries, has developed a series of automated test tools for imaging system developers. The first tools in this series, TestJob Builder and TestJob Sender, reduce testing time, enhance test-file selection accuracy, and manage test-file flow to a targeted imaging platform. Both TestJob Builder and TestJob Sender are available now.

TestJob Builder lets users search and select specific test files, based on search-term attributes, from QualityLogic’s indexed test-suite databases. User-defined fields allow customization for unique requirements, such as associating defect numbers or code segments to certain test cases for regression testing.

TestJob Builder lets a user search for specific PDL-type commands within a file, or choose from higher-level imaging functions. Once test files are selected, TestJob Builder provides file thumbnails for visual check by the user. The whole process is much faster than a manual search and requires less user expertise. In addition, TestJob Builder locates every file that matches the specified criteria. This 100% match is virtually impossible with a manual search.

Printer manufacturers and imaging-controller developers can use TestJob Builder to:

  • Create custom test suites that are optimized within strict time constraints.
  • Create custom test suites that match regression test-code modifications and enhancements.
  • Quickly locate test files that duplicate a reported defect, and improve the efficiency of regression testing.
  • Isolate elements in a test file that cause a defect in output resulting in easier defect definition and quicker corrective action.

TestJob Sender manages test-file processing and synchronizes with TestJob Builder to automate the test-file flow process. TestJob Sender provides additional test-operation options that simplify and enhance the testing process. A user can schedule print jobs, measure test-time performance, and power-cycle the target device so that jobs are printed on a clean, initialized platform.

“We’ve heard our customer’s requests to help them reduce development schedules and costs with automated, standardized testing processes,” said Dave Jollota, President of QualityLogic’s Imaging Test Solutions Group. “This new generation of affordable automation test tools will allow more effective selection of test files and bring new efficiencies to our customers’ test programs.”

TestJob Builder and TestJob Sender continue QualityLogic’s legacy of providing automated test tools. These include the industry-standard PageSense printer speed-performance measurement system, and the FaxLab interoperability test system for multifunction peripherals and fax devices.

QualityLogic provides leading-edge QA and QC test tools and services for the imaging and telecommunications industries. The company’s tools and services are used for conformance, performance, and interoperability testing – from low-level firmware testing to high-level multi-tier application testing. Its target markets are companies that develop and market printers, multifunction peripherals, and Telephony/IP products/services.

QualityLogic partners with leading technology firms to develop new and enhanced test solutions for emerging technologies. It offers pre-submission testing of printer and imaging device drivers for the new Windows Vista Logo Program 3.0, and is the first company to provide independent Microsoft XPS technology training for engineers and designers. In 2007, QualityLogic announced the development of the first pre-flight application for the XPS file format.

QualityLogic offers a certified page-yield testing service for printer ink and toner cartridges, as well as testing for consumables reliability, print quality and cost of ownership. In addition, it performs competitive assessment work for HP, Dell and other printer companies.
