QUALITYLOGIC COMPLETES EUROPEAN COST-OF-INK-PER-PAGE ANALYSIS FOR KODAK
NEW SERVICE COMPARES THREE KODAK PRINTERS, AND 11 COMPETITIVE PRINTERS SOLD IN FRANCE, GERMANY AND THE U.K.
Moorpark, CA – December 4, 2007 – QualityLogic (www.qualitylogic.com) announced today that it has completed a Cost-of-Ink-Per-Page (CoIPP) Analysis for the Eastman Kodak Company. A new service offered by QualityLogic, a CoIPP Analysis uses cartridge cost and page-yield to calculate and compare the cost of ink required to print one page on competitive printers. Page-yield is determined through QualityLogic’s Certified Page-Yield Test Program, which is based on ISO standards. Cartridge costs are provided by an independent source.
“The cost of ink is a critical factor to consider when evaluating the total cost of a printer,” said Dave Jollota, QualityLogic COO. “A CoIPP analysis provides consumers with information that is impartial, accurate and consistent. It gives them a new way to look at this portion of the overall cost of owning and operating a printer. We anticipate growing support for this type of information from both business and general consumers.”
The Kodak CoIPP Analysis measured the Kodak EASYSHARE 5000 AIO printer series against 11 competitive European printers that have significant market share in France, Germany and the United Kingdom. The analysis compared the cost of printing a page on each printer using monochrome, color and color-photo inks. In every case, the cost of ink for the Kodak printers was lower than for the competitive printers.
Cartridge-cost data (including applicable taxes) was provided by IDC, a premier global provider of independent market intelligence. During July and August 2007, IDC obtained pricing from competitive manufacturers’ in-country Web sites. Kodak provided pricing for its EASYSHARE cartridges, for the same time frame, in France, Germany and the United Kingdom. In all cases, single standard-as-shipped, in-box cartridges were tested and priced to ensure like-basis comparisons.
