QUALITYLOGIC INTROS FAX V.34 PROTOCOL ANALYZER FOR FAX-OVER-IP (FoIP) APPLICATIONS
DataProbe is First V.34 Solution to Provide Deep T.30 Analysis
Moorpark, CA - September 21, 2005 - QualityLogic introduced its DataProbe Fax V.34 Protocol Analyzer today, and will begin shipping this week. A multi-node communication channel test tool, DataProbe addresses the fax interoperability problems that occur when companies implement Fax-over-IP (FoIP). The first V.34 solution to provide deep T.30 analysis, DataProbe uses a new process to passively monitor, capture and analyze traffic at all modulations up to, and including, V.34. It quickly identifies and isolates protocol violations, fax message degradation and timing errors. Applications include FoIP testing, Fax terminal/MFP testing, T.30 development, QA testing, field service/diagnostics and end-to-end telephony service testing.
"Companies and individuals that switch to VoIP need the ability to send and receive faxes. But, Fax-over-IP calls can be corrupted or degraded by timing delays, dropped packets and other network anomalies," said Gary James, QualityLogic Director of Business Development. "If your company provides VoIP services, implements the technology or works with terminal devices, you absolutely have to deliver reliable fax capability. DataProbe will help you do this - and it will save your R&D, QA and field-service people a lot of time."
DataProbe is a software application that uses self-contained hardware devices and runs on any Windows 2000 or XP workstation. It creates an end-to-end test system that monitors and reports on calls between originating and answering devices in fax sessions. Its distributed hardware architecture simplifies the testing and quickly identifies problems caused by the communications network infrastructure. DataProbe does this through DataTrap, a hardware device that sits between a fax device or telephony gateway unit and an analog interface to the public telephone network or analog switch. DataProbe can control one or more DataTraps over TCP/IP and is connected to the tested device or network via standard RJ-11 telephony connection.
In the same way that DataProbe controls DataTraps, an optional FaxSend utility, which works with DataProbe, controls ChannelTrap hardware devices. FaxSend is used to configure test call characteristics and varying loads, and then generate fax traffic to run specific test scenarios to facilitate DataProbe's reporting of protocol violations.
DataProbe has an elegant, easy-to-use interface that displays all captured fax protocol data and message content. From a high-level view, a user can quickly drill down to the bit level. Rich analytical software identifies protocol errors. The dynamic ITU-T T.30 "Help" window explains signals, data formats and byte descriptions, and allows the user to quickly understand a call error in relationship to fax standards.
The DataProbe Kit is priced at $12,750. For product details, visit www.qualitylogic.com/genoa_test_tools/fax/dataprobe.html.
