Genoa's FaxExpert, a developer's testing tool, can manipulate and analyze virtually every aspect of a fax call. Its browser supports viewing and analysis of color images, as well as black-and-white. The ability to generate new test cases quickly is one of the most powerful features in FaxExpert. Data captured during a previously recorded fax call can be used to create a script that simulates either end of a fax communication. FaxExpert also includes predefined templates in which the basics of a call are already laid out. For developers who are familiar with the T.30 fax protocol, building a new test case consists of simply dragging and dropping any of the wide variety of base functions into the script. FaxExpert can assemble almost any signal in virtually any order, and nearly every element in each signal can be modified. Errors can be introduced almost anywhere, as well.
During test execution, all bits transferred between FaxExpert and the device under test are recorded. From this data, the call is analyzed for conformance, according to the level of analysis the user selects.
For applications that demand accurate color rendition, Genoa offers Affix Color Calibration Software to evaluate a scanned image for true color translation. Developed by Genoa partner CCE of Paris, France, Affix runs under FaxExpert.
The FaxExpert 1.1 Kit, including FaxExpert software and FaxTrap facsimile traffic processor, is available today. Options, including Affix Color Calibrations Software and test suites for TSB-85 (US) and DTS (Germany), are also available.
