QualityLogic Improves the Industry's Only Facsimile Interoperability Test System

FaxLab 4.0 Now Features Multiple Call and End-to-End Testing Capabilities

Las Vegas, CTI Expo Booth #646, December 7, 1999 - In a major upgrade to the only facsimile device emulator on the market today, QualityLogic Inc. has added new network test capabilities and unprecedented ease-of-use features to FaxLab. FaxLab 4.0 emulates over 120 fax machines, multifunction peripherals, fax-modems and PC-based fax software in use today, so fax manufacturers and integrators can verify that their products will interoperate with fax devices in the "real world".

Using highly detailed statistical profiles and a comprehensive set of test calls, FaxLab plays back the behavior of real-world devices, replacing a room full of facsimile devices. Testing is automated, and the level of testing provided by FaxLab is significantly deeper than can be accomplished manually.

FaxLab 4.0 uses wizards to simplify test case management. Even users who do not have a detailed understanding of facsimile protocols can create call scenarios quickly. In addition, extensive online help screens describe all features of the product.

FaxLab 4.0, which runs under Windows 95, 98 and NT, uses QualityLogic's ChannelTrap, a hardware device that generates and receives fax traffic. This client/server architecture makes FaxLab compatible with the company's other facsimile testing products, ChannelProbe and FaxExpert.

With additional ChannelTraps, FaxLab can execute up to 32 facsimile calls simultaneously, so developers and integrators can drastically reduce the time required for testing, which results in getting their products to market faster.

FaxLab can perform extensive facsimile protocol analysis, identifying protocol errors and providing guidance on their severity. Problems are identified quickly with pass/fail analysis. By employing multiple ChannelTraps, FaxLab easily supports end-to-end testing by controlling both the originating and the receiving side of the fax transmission. This system identifies fax message degradation caused by the network transport, as well as protocol violations. Because ChannelTraps can be operated over a network or via modem, the system can be used for diagnosing problems at remote locations, saving time and reducing travel costs.
