QualityLogic Announces FaxLab 4.5

Highly Automated Update to FaxLab Saves Test Time and Money

July 9, 2001, Moorpark, CA -- In today's highly competitive computer telephony environment, there is a much-publicized convergence occurring between the circuit switched networks (PSTN) and the packet-switched networks (IP). There are many compelling reasons why it is important to send voice traffic over data networks. Service providers are able to roll out new services more quickly, better utilize existing bandwidth, increase retention of customers, and increase revenue. VOIP enables enterprises to enhance services to their customers and employees, more effectively utilize their existing IP network infrastructure, and increase customer satisfaction.

Facsimile is the most important non-voice application on the international PSTN and the most widely used standard is Group 3 Facsimile. The new packet-switched networks must now carry voice, data, and fax. The goal is to provide the same quality and reliability that we've come to expect when we pick up the phone.

Equipment manufacturers, carriers, and end users are concerned about the quality of the fax page image. This image must be transmitted across the network without corruption or lost data. The ITU E-450 Series Recommendation provides a framework for facsimile quality of service on the PSTN.

QualityLogic's FaxLab 4.5 has been designed to incorporate the metrics and "figures of merit" defined in the ITU E-450 Series Recommendation. FaxLab 4.5 will help you test your equipment to be sure that it will interoperate with other commonly found fax devices and to report on the quality of the image transmitted.

QualityLogic is pleased to announce that we are now accepting orders for FaxLab 4.5. We are excited about the new release and believe that its new emulations and features provide users excellent value for their testing dollars.

FaxLab 4.5 has several major enhancements that include the following:

  1. Twenty new device emulations.
  2. An automatic, higher level of end-to-end analysis, providing better analysis of expected results.
  3. The "figure of merit" classifying the image quality and call success of the transmitted fax.
  4. A new statistical reporting system based on user defined call groups. A sample summary report is attached.
  5. New post dial delay measurement capability.

FaxLab 4.0 customers can upgrade to FaxLab 4.5 and get 20 additional fax device emulations. Considering that the cost to purchase these new fax would be over $8,000, this alone is worth the price of the upgrade. Test groups will realize considerable savings by using FaxLab 4.5.

If you are upgrading from FaxLab 3.0 (DOS version) or an earlier version, there are many reasons to consider the ease of use and new features provided by FaxLab 4.5. We will be happy to discuss your testing needs and provide a quotation.
