QUALITYLOGIC ANNOUNCES UPDATE TO ITS PDF INTEROPANALYZER

PDF 1.7 INTEROPANALYZER PLUS ADDS FUNCTIONAL TESTS FOR NEW PDF 1.6 AND 1.7 FEATURES

Moorpark, CA – May 16, 2007 – QualityLogic (www.qualitylogic.com) announced an update to its PDF InteropAnalyzer tool today.  PDF InteropAnalyzer verifies that a device or software application can successfully read and interpret Portable Document Format (PDF) files.  PDF 1.7 InteropAnalyzer Plus includes PDF 1.7 support, and adds a functional testing module for new PDF 1.6 and 1.7 features.

PDF InteropAnalyzer is used by printer and multifunction-peripheral manufacturers, driver developers, and PDF creator/producer software developers to ensure that their products can handle PDF files.  Although PDF is a universal document format, it can produce a wide variety of permutations.  This occurs because there are currently seven different PDF file-format versions, and they are used by a wide variety of applications.  The composition of a PDF file is influenced by the PDF version, the application, the configuration options and any subsequent document editing.  Successful PDF testing must include a huge number of possible document permutations to ensure product compatibility.

The PDF 1,7 InteropAnalyzer Plus contains three distinct test suites:

• The PDF 1.6/1.7 Functional Test Suite tests the new features in PDF 1.6 and 1.7 in a manner similar to the way QualityLogic’s traditional functional test suites test a printer language or file format.

• The Installed Base Test Suite is a database of statistics and URLs that provide a statistical sampling of over 10,000 PDF files from the Internet.  These represent the installed base of PDF files that are most commonly used today.

• The Current Release Test Suite consists of custom-developed test pages produced by many of the latest PDF producer and creator applications.  These represent the PDF files that are likely to enter the general business environment over the next 12 to 18 months.

"We introduced the PDF InteropAnalyzer in 2004 with support for PDF 1.4 and have updated it each year in tandem with PDF Specification updates," said Dave Jollota, QualityLogic's COO.  "This year, we’ve added functional test cases for new PDF features introduced in PDF 1.6 and 1.7 to give our customers an even more robust test solution.  This update, in combination with our Installed Base and Current Release test suites, makes the PDF 1.7 InteropAnalyzer Plus a ‘must-have’ for companies developing products that consume PDF.”

The PDF InteropAnalyzer also includes an SQL database containing the key characteristics for each of these test suites.  This allows users to use QualityLogic’s Query Builder to easily create a custom test set by querying the database for files with or without specific characteristics.  With a custom test set, a user can:

• Generate an analysis report
• Run a smallest- set analysis
• Download any needed files from the Internet
• Copy test files to a designated directory
• Generate a file list for batch or automation processes
