QualityLogic’s James Mater Elected To GridWise Architecture Council

James Mater, co-founder and smart grid business general manager of QualityLogic Inc. (www.qualitylogic.com), has been elected to the GridWise Architecture Council (GWAC). QualityLogic is a leader in promoting interoperability in the smart grid, and Mater has spearheaded that effort.

GWAC, a volunteer council, was established in 2004 by the Department of Energy with support from the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. The GWAC comprises leaders in power, information technology, telecommunications, financial systems and other fields working together to transform the nation’s energy system into a rich, collaborative network filled with decision-making information exchange and market-based opportunities. For this network to live up to its promise, all parts must interact, or interoperate, seamlessly, and QualityLogic is at the forefront of this effort.

In 2012, GWAC elected Mater as one of its first two Associate Members. He was honored by the Council for “Best Paper” at Grid-Interop 2009 for his work on the Interoperability Maturity Model, and for “Outstanding Technical Paper” for his efforts in promoting information interoperability in 2012.

“It’s a truly an honor to be elected a member of this ground-breaking organization,” said Mater. “I look forward to working with the GWAC at this new level to continue support for standards and interoperability in the smart grid.”
