QualityLogic Inc. (https://www.qualitylogic.com) announced today the first in a series of test suites for Smart Energy Profile 2.0 that will help device manufacturers, utilities and system integrators ensure conformance to the Smart Energy Profile 2.0 Application Layer Specification as a critical first step towards interoperability.

The SEP 2.0 Functional Test Suite (FTS) contains rigorous test cases for all mandatory and optional elements of the SEP 2.0 Application Layer Specification, as well as test cases for illegal behaviors. Metering Function Set test cases for meter servers and clients are now available on a subscription basis through a secure QualityLogic web portal. Test cases for additional function sets are planned to be added as the specification progresses through the standards process and as device manufacturers implement the protocol. Customers can also get access to these test cases running over ZigBee, with support planned for Wi-Fi, HomePlug, and HomeGrid (G.hn).

“The recent formation of the multi-alliance Consortium for SEP 2 Interoperability and subsequent approval of version 0.7 of the app layer spec have created a need for rigorous conformance tests to help implementers of SEP 2.0 ensure conformance to the specification,” said Dave Jollota, QualityLogic president and CEO. “The QualityLogic SEP 2.0 FTS will help developers prepare for certification next year and ultimately achieve their interoperability goals.”
