FaxLab provides comprehensive facsimile compatibility testing and now includes simulations of even more V.34 (also known as V.Fast or Super G3) devices.
Download a demonstration version of FaxLab now! Testing compatibility is an essential step in bringing new fax devices or technologies to market. In the past, the only way to perform this testing was to purchase large numbers of fax devices and manually test dozens of devices and hundreds of feature combinations. FaxLab from QualityLogic has been used by device manufacturers, network equipment providers, and carriers for the past 12 years to simplify the process of fax device compatibility testing. Using detailed statistical profiles and a comprehensive set of test calls, FaxLab plays back the behavior of real-world devices, allowing you to replace a room full of fax devices with software. FaxLab saves time, reduces costs and helps you get your product to market faster, and the level of testing provided by FaxLab is significantly deeper than can be accomplished manually. FaxLab uses QualityLogics ChannelTrap, an external hardware device that generates and receives facsimile traffic. Using additional ChannelTraps, FaxLab can execute up to 32 fax calls simultaneously, reducing the time required for testing and providing the capability to generate traffic conditions from many different device emulations. Compatibility TestingView a list of FaxLab emulations During testing, FaxLab sends fax calls to and receives calls from the device under test, using data from the profiles of the devices you select. You may use actual sampled values, including best- and worst-case behavior observed during profiling, or synthesize a value that is statistically valid based on the sampled data. End-to-End and T.38 TestingFaxLab automates testing for timing delays, dropped packets or other network anomalies that corrupt fax calls. You can create an end-to-end test system that plays both originator and answering party in a fax call using FaxLab and multiple ChannelTraps. This system identifies fax message degradation caused by the network transport, as well as fax protocol violations in gateways. Because ChannelTraps can be operated over a network or via modem, the system can diagnose problems at remote locations, reducing support costs. |

FaxLab implements the ITU Figure Of Merit recommendations E.453 and E.458 for classifying fax image quality and call success. Its expanded statistical report incorporates the ITU recommendations to make statistical summaries of user selected test call groups. FaxLab can also measure post dial delay parameters. With FaxLab 6.1's automation features you can remotely:
FaxLab Product Structure FaxLab deliverables include both FaxLab 6.0 and FaxLab 4.5. FaxLab 6.0 performs V.34 fax operations using a Rockwell R288F modem with a facsimile engine. FaxLab 4.5 performs non-V.34 fax operations using a Rockwell R144EFX modem. Its engine reporting heuristics include extensive fax domain expertise developed during broad testing and profiling use. FaxLab 4.5 is used to test the V.17 (non-V.34) features of fax devices. FaxLab 6.0 is used to test V.34 modulations, Super G3 negotiation from V.34 to V.17 operation, and the use of JBIG and JPEG encodings in both V.17 and V.34 operation. Both FaxLab 4.5 and 6.0 perform their testing functions using the same ChannelTrap III hardware. FaxLab in Use Following are examples of how our customers are using FaxLab:
