XPS Conversion Path Application Test Suites

QualityLogic's XPS Application Test Suites (ATS) help you test and debug your XPS implementation to ensure compatibility with leading applications. We are offering two ATS products: the 2006 Conversion Path ATS for testing your XPS implementation with Win32 applications; and the XPS Native ATS, which will use files created from native Windows Vista applications as they become available.

Initially, XPS implementations can be validated by printing legacy Win32 applications in the Windows Vista environment, as well as using a GDI conformance test as the input to the conversion process. This is packaged as a captured XPS file Application Test Suite - the XPS Conversion Path ATS.

Using Microsoft's XPS Document Writer (MXDW) printer driver, we take GDI calls from Win32 applications and output XPS print files. This effectively does a GDI-to-XPS conversion, similar to how a PDF printer driver performs a GDI-to-PDF conversion and outputs a .PDF file. The output from the MXDW printer driver produces an ".xps" file which can be viewed on the screen by installing Microsoft's .NET Framework 3.0 Runtime Components. QualityLogic generated a collection of XPS print files by using its existing collection of ATS-IFs developed for Windows XP.

Operating System:

Microsoft Windows Vista February 2006 CTP was used for the most recent Conversion Path ATS Version 0.8 generation. XPSViewer for the .xps files is contained in Microsoft's .NET Framework 3.0 Runtime Components (latest from Microsoft's website). .NET Framework 3.0 is also available for the Windows XP platform. We will release a final Version 1.0 after the Version 1.0 release of Windows Vista.
